TIPS
Part A – 2 audios; total 24 short answers
Listen to two extracts of healthcare professionals talking to patients.
Do
- Use the sub-headings to guide you.
- Give as exact an answer as you hear.
- Write in note form
Don’t
- Jump ahead or back: the gaps follow the sequence of the recording.
- Write full sentences: a word or short phrase is sufficient.
- Don’t waste time with erasers to correct mistakes. Just cross out what you do not want the examiner to read.
Part B – 6 extracts with 3-option MCQ
Do
- Read carefully. Note context for each extract and start to consider kind of language that might be coming.
- Mark your answers on the Question Paper by filling in the circle completely using a 2B pencil.
Don’t
- Select your answer until you have heard the whole extract.
- Fill in more than one answer circle. The scanner will not be able to recognise it and you will not receive any marks for that question.
Part C – 2 longer recordings; 6 x 3-option MCQs each
Do
- Read carefully. Note context for each extract and start to consider kind of language that might be coming.
- Mark your answers on the Question Paper by filling in the circle completely using a 2B pencil.
Don’t
- Listen only for exact words found in the answer options. The speaker(s) will often use synonyms.
- Fill in more than one answer circle. The scanner will not be able to recognise it and you will not receive any marks for that question.
